Clarity tool and the histogram
As I have written elsewhere on this forum, I absolutely love the Clarity tool in Capture One 5 Pro. It really makes images pop without all the ugliness of Clarity in Lightroom. But the changes in tonal distribution brought about by this tool are not reflected in the adjusted RAW histogram. This means that clipping of shadows and highlights may be produced without one being aware of it until the Output stage, which may then require going back into RAW to readjust the black and white points.
I would like to know why it has to be this way. Why can C1 not have the histogram reflect all the changes that occur with the Clarity tool? This does not seem like it should be very difficult technically. I might add that in Lightroom, the histogram is connected to Clarity.

On CO 5.1/Win the Clarity tool adjustment is now reflected in the histogram. I expect it will come to Mac in the next release. I will make a note with Phase One. 0 -
While awaiting this rectification, the highlight and shadow exposure warnings do appear to inform about clipping in these areas. 0 -
Paul and Ralph,
Thanks for your responses. I hope that the update for the Mac comes soon. I must say that I am impressed that Phase One listens to its customers.
