depending on which 12\" powerbook you have (how much ram is on the motherboard) you can go up to 1.25 gig ram, because there is only one slot which can only take up to one 1gig ram chip....the only (slight) speed increase would be to replace the stock drive to a 7200rpm drive (if you haven't already done so)...this can almost double your launch times and will definitely help your thumbnails 9obviously anything that reads or writes to your hard drive)...but i am not sure how you want to make the P25 shoot faster than 2 sec, which is pretty much the capture rate of the back...

I wonder what combination of RAM did you use to get 1gig RAM in your PB12".
While 1 slot in 256MB and unchangeable. The other slot is 768MB???

The maximum amount of RAM in PB12" is 1.25GB.

Try changing the capture file format to: IIQ Small and also Set you max # of captures in Memory to 10 (pref under Camera setup). Make sure the only program you have running is C1 Pro for max performance.
I agree that a fast internal 7200 rpm HD in concert w/ Maxing out the ram.
I have a 12inch 1.5GHz and it's mz Ram is 1.25 gig 257 sodered to the motherboard & 1-1Gig chip. Bear in mind that this 12in is a backup to my 15in 1.67, 2gig of ram & 7200rpm 100gig HD. I also have a weibetech firewire powered combo drive (firewire 400/800/usb2) 100 gig 7200 rpm portable HD for backing up on location.

of course you are correct! 🤭

1 gig extra RAM + 256mb built in...

    that is interesting Brian!

I actually have the identical setup on my PB12", except for the setting concerning the file size.
Do you see an actual speed improvement when set to IIQ Small?

I find a slowdown when my HD gets full after a long day and many shots.
Transfering everything to an external drive speeds it up again...

    Can you confirm that?

    cheers Nicolas

    hi nicholas
    i can confrim that !
the faster the drives are-the better, and working with one ext. "read-only"-drive and one ext. "write-only"-drive improves the overall workflow speed again!

a filled up laptop is one of the most efficiant ways of slowing down 😊
