Keywords consolidate and sort

Is there any way to consolidate and sort the order of keyword? When the keywords are created in CO they are arrayed alphabetically. However keywords that have been introduced in the metadata of imported images are shown in a separate alphabetic list at the end of the CO keywords list. I can edit the CO keywords using Prefs Editor but the plist shows only keywords created in CO and not via imported metadata.
