Compatibility between 10 and 11
Hi All,
Has anybody got experiencing of running versions 10 and 11 alongside each other in the studio? We are adding a new staff member who will be running Capture One Pro 11, while three others are still on 10. Need to decide if we should just upgrade everybody else to 11, but don't want to pay out unnecessarily. If there are issues of compatibility, then with specific regard to our workflow this is where I think an issue is most likely to occur: the photographers are moving between two studios using their own allocated machines, but there is likely to be occasions where shots originating in v.10 are then taken to a desktop running v.11, and vice versa. I can't find any information as to whether this would cause problems or not, and while we're prepared to upgrade if it's the only way to avoid problems, I'd like to hear if anybody else has had experience of this and could offer any advice before going any further. Many thanks for any thoughts.

I don't know if you use catalogs or sessions, but AFAIK catalogs are updated to v11 format and can't be opened in v10 afterwards. 0 -

OK thanks for this - if that's the case then it would definitely cause problems.0 -
Sessions 11 call for "upgrade" if original session was created in C1-10. Conversely, if you create new session in C1-11, you can not open it in C1-10.
I have no idea what the differences are, but let's just say "progress".
My decision to upgrade to C1-11 now is that I will get at least a full year of the improved application before having to once again upgrade to 12! By that time, I may have to update my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro running High Sierra. So far so good.0 -

However a backup copy of the V10 version of the catalog database is saved for you in case you do not already have one.
In a V11 session (and so I presume catalogue too) the individual images and even variants of images can retain the original processing engine if you prefer to keep them as they were.
New image edits and completely new variants (i.e. NOT CLONED) of a previously edited image will always be set to the V11 processing engine.
HTH.
