Subscription or purchase...?
I wonder if any in the forum could clarify something about expected workings of the subscription vs. purchase option?
The web site says that updates to the software can be expected every three months or so, and will be incremental:
Will these incremental updates be available to those who purchase a license - or will they have to pay upgrade fees to access these new incremental features?
Knowing whether there will be continual update charges as these incremental features are released is necessary to work out whether the subscription is better or worse value than the lifetime license. I cannot determine the answer from the information I can find on the PhaseOne web site.

As something new, we will release new software features as they are developed instead of waiting for major release cycles (e.g. Capture One Pro 6 to 7). This is true for both Capture One Subscription and for Capture One Pro 8.

No changes to the current structure for purchased keys.
If it's an update, it's free... If it's an upgrade (version jump) then there's a charge.0 -

Drew,
Can you confirm that the subscription model will receive free upgrades as and when they're released? I shouldn't anticipate more than the $10/month charge?0 -

Well... Um? I guess it's not free because it's $10/month.
So, for $10/month you get the current capture one. Be it version 8 or version 18, that's the ease of the subscription. No worrying about upgrade costs and hassle. Just pay the $10/month and use the software.0 -

Well that would be $15/month - $10/month appears to be a promotional rate for 12 month subscriptions only, and reverts to full price on renewal. Three month subscriptions pay the full rate.
$180/yr seems a lot, when version upgrade from 7 to 8 is only $90. In answer to another question here, it has been confirmed that 'point' upgrades will be free for 'lifetime' license holders: so if you can upgrade $90 will get you current versions through to v9.
I guess deciding factor is when V9 will come along, and how long after that V10 follows (plus how much upgrades from 8-9 and 9-10 will be). I wonder if PhaseOne will let us know their plans in this regard: would be helpful!0 -
I purchased.
Hell will freeze over before I use the subscription model. I want to manage my cash flow I dont want it smoothed!0 -

Understandable.
The Subscription model is really geared towards studios where managing Keys and getting last minute upgrade costs approved is a budget hassle. This way it's a steady and manageable payment each month, so for some it's much less hassle.0
