Does Capture One offer those features?
Hi to everyone. I am new to this forum, relatively new to Capture One (1 year) and really not new in photography (17 years) 😊 I switched my workflow from Lightroom to Capture One a year ago and must say I am impressed with CO workflow possibilities. Still I am missing several features I know from Lightroom/Photoshop. Could you please help me solve those of my needs I did not solve by myself? I am using Catalog setting.
1) Is there any way to see pictures thru the subfolders? - like in lightroom - I choose main folder and can see all pictures in its subfolders together with no need to open each of them.
2) Is there any way to make picture smaller than "fit to screen" during edits? - I often use smaller overview on the picture during my workflow to keep eye on the whole image instead of details, very helpful in many cases. So far I do it with englargement of thumbnails part, but this is not the solution what I am looking for. It would be very helpful when smaller than "fit" setting of zoom would be available.
3) Is there any way to make before/after view without needing "alt and reset button"? From Lightroom I am happy with single key "", but if possible I would assing to any other one-click-button
4) I love Luma range setting for my local adjustment, is there any way to make something like "Focus range"? - I would really love to make local adjustments of focused and out-of-focus parts separately (great for noise reduction, sharpening, etc.)
Many thanks for answers and sorry if those topics are already covered, I tried to find but with no luck.
Regards,
Petr Bambousek 😊

No there is currently no way to do this. People often ask for it - if you want to add your voice you should open a support case. I decided to make use of it as a feature. I work with sessions and then import them into a catalogue. The way I work each top level folder shows the number of images I marked as selects and the remainder are still available under a sub folder but do not show in the folder count. I like this since I am more interested in how may good images I have on a topic that the total number I took. Full explanation is here:

There is no feature like this but you can create variants. So, if you want to compare to the before edit version you can create a new variant (not a clone, new) for your image. Now you have the edited version and a version with no edits and you can select them both and view them side by each. If you want to compare a final edit to some part way mark you do have to create a cloned variant at that time.0 -
Thank you, Ian, for your reply. Good trick with variants as before/after solution. Hopefully they will add this simple and often used tool soon. 😄 0 -

As suggested, you could make a feature suggestion. The more requests they receive, the better the chances it will be implemented.[quote="NNN636162130696561798" wrote:

There isn't but a potential workaround would be to select multiple images at the same time. The viewer will then show all of them, scaled down to fit them in. The more you select, the smaller the image you are working on will appear. Don't worry about the other selected images receiving adjustments as well. Only certain updates (such as "star ratings") will apply to all selected images (if the respective "multi" mode is active). Image adjustments aren't applied to all selected images, unless you explicitly copy them over from the primary selection to the others.[quote="NNN636162130696561798" wrote:

You can avoid using the mouse by pressing Ctrl-R (for reset). From there, Ctrl-Z (undo) and Shift-Ctrl-Z (redo) allow you to go back and forth between "before" and "after".
You may find it useful to only "reset" the last tool you used (e.g., "color balance"). For this, (temporarily) use the local reset option that each tool offers.[quote="NNN636162130696561798" wrote:

No, there isn't.
There is the "focus detection" feature which supports setting the focus threshold but you cannot convert its results into a mask. Given its results, though, I doubt it would work well for what you have in mind.0 -

Try: Settings - Appearance - Proof Margin0
