Eliminating out of memory crashes

    No problems with Win 7 64 bit/ver 5.1.2 here, Bill.

    When are you getting the crash? I'll try and replicate it if I know what you're doing. Are you importing or proxy building a large number of big files?

    How much RAM have you got?

    Win7 x64 /w CO 5.1.2 works OK to me. Had same questions as Keith to the OP.

    I've had this problem with both 5.1.1 and 5.1.2. Sometimes I can adjust a few images before it crashes; sometimes it will happen after making one or two simple adjustments to one image. There's no particular pattern that I've been able to discern. Proxy building is done, not importing, just working on images that have already been imported. They're P40+ files, I haven't been working on any of my Canon/Nikon images recently.

    Win7 64-bit with 24GB RAM.

    Bill 2,
    Can you provide the details on the type of files you are using?

    Exactly the same problems with CR2-files from Canon EOS 1D Mark II and IIn!

    What the reasons could be are isn't clearly, because the situations are completely simple and totally different.
    Sometimes it crashes "out of memory" up to 5 times in the same picture, another time I can work on more than 20 pictures without any problems, but rarely.

    In the time I use C1 there is no other application working, but started.

    The little Windows "out of memory: please restart the application" comes up to 4 times after the other. Then sometimes C1 can be closed regularly wit "X", but mostly it really hangs, so I have to use the taskmanager to end it.

    I think given the variances reported in this thread it would be better served through a support case with specific details of your machine, Log Files, System Information files, etc. Once we collect data from the users that are reporting this issue we will be better equipped to diagnose the issue and suggest solutions.

    My support-case is still in process since 13. June 2010 10:32.

    After upgrading the CPU and the Graphic-Card it's still the same without any changes, but the faster CPU allows a little bit more work between the crashes!!! 😁 😁 😁

    O.K.??
    And what's the meaning of this:
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    Server Error in '/' Application.

    Runtime Error

    Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
    <system.web>
    <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
    </configuration>

    Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
    <system.web>
    <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
    </configuration>

    My line is permanent for 24 hours, it took some time to try it by every browser, an now I get the same message again, so before days, and so on... But I luckily can choose at the same time everything I want in the web, an it comes with 16.000kBit/s to my PC.

    I don't know, I can't understand.

    Hmmm, can't see an issue using your info to access the case. On an Internal or External Network, I'll check with the IT wizards.

    What should I have to do in service-case 75604 to answer?

    The ERROR in displaying my support-case is declared. It appears when I choose the german language (flag), but not if I let the standard English!

    My System-Info is on the way to you!

    Hiya Drew,

    How can I participate in reporting crash logs while doing regular workflow using C1 PRO 5.1.2?

    When I mean workflow: I am tagging, rating, creating multiple variants, deleting variants I don't like, deleting RAW files that I don't like, etc. This is regular use of the software.

    I started another thread and I thought I'd get your attention if I reply here as well.

    I am on Windows 7 Professional with latest updates installed. 64- Bit 8 GB DDR3 RAM. My RAW files are from either the Canon 30D or the Nikon D40X.

    Is this in regard to the OP "Out of Memory" crash?
    If not then I'm not sure what it is you are referring to? If so, create a support case with details about your similar issue and we'll take it from there.

    Just an update from the OP. I have submitted a support case and sent copies of the logs. The initial recommendation was to completely remove and reinstall the application. Did that but same problem reappeared. Case has been referred and I am waiting for a response. Will advise.

    Further update. It appears that the tech folks at Capture One have isolated the problem and have identified an approach for a fix. I have been running trouble free, when I had been able to force an abort at will. Can't do it now.

    Not sure when/how the fix will be applied, maybe folks at Capture One could comment.

    The clue is in the post above yours:
    It appears that the tech folks at Capture One have isolated the problem and have identified an approach for a fix.

    A "fix" implies a software release. In the mean time, why not raise a support case? That's the way to get Phase One working actively on your problem.

    We are having a similar out of memory crash while we are looking at captures at 100% to check focus.

    We are using the Phase One P65+ and running Capture One 5.2.1 on an Apple MacBook Pro 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 with 8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM. The computer is used for location photo shoots and we only keep the current job files on it (so it's not bogged down with other data).

    Typically we try to only run Capture One because at first we thought it was because we had Photoshop (CS4) open as well. However, it turns out that the crashes still occur whether we have Photoshop up or not.

    Please help.

    Thanks!

    NN191880,
    The issue in this case is not the same as yours. Also, this is the Window's thread and your machine is Mac. I would suggest you create a support case to resolve your issue as it is likely related to something other than Memory. I have the EXACT same machine you described and have never seen a similar issue.
