Tethered shooting is not yet implemented in CO 4.6/4.6.1 for the EOS 5D mkII. Please see release notes on supported models. Support is announced for a future update.

When are we going to see tethered support for the 5D MKII? I thought one of the reasons for the new version was that it was much easier to add tethered support

Yes, It is easier to add support for new cameras (and features) in general, however tethered support requires input from Canon in the form of an SDK. When 5D Mark II was added to capture one 4, it was not yet supported in Canons SDK. You should see it in the next big update.

Is there any update on the tethered support for the canon 5d mkII ? I would appreciate it if Phase One would voice our collective frustration to Canon and put a bit more pressure on them to release the necessary tools to get this problem sorted out. I think people are just a bit sensitive with delays because of the history of capture one 4.0 and its string of unmet deadlines. Thanks.

Is it also possible to implement a "tethered" wlan functiob for the 5DII and the WFT-E4?
Would be nice not to need the Canon-EOS-utility!
    Thanks!

Can be done already. Just replace the tethered connection with a wLAN connection to your computer. I suggest FTP mode of WFT-E4. Further setup as with EOS Utility: hot folder etc. pointing to FTP upload folder.

In FTP-mode i will not be able to use the live-preview and control the camera. Thats what I'm looking for.

    Hi Andy,

Rather than opening another thread C1 Pro and the 5D, I thought I might just ask you for your general impressions of the results you are getting. I am shooting with a 40D today and was about to buy the 5D II when I realized I should check on the RAW processing first. I can live without tethered support for awhile, but I am curious how the 5D images look when processed with C1 Pro?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I have been using C1 4 with my 5D MKII and I love the processing of the raw files.
400 iso looks almost like 100

Processed results look very good in general as does high ISO images. Though I do not use high ISO a lot, I ran a ISO stepping series, processed with CO 4.6. You can download it if you like. Go to 5D2 folder and look for Museum_5D2_ISO_stepping.zip to get an impression.

    Hello,

i use a Canon 5D Mark II, however all images come out of focus on the viewer. As you have been working and processing images from the same camera, do you know what can be wrong? The problem is that when I click on the thumbnail of the browser the image appears ok but after 5 second it comes completely out of focus. Have you had the same problem? Do you have any clue what is due to?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I recently downloaded the trial version of 6.3 and to test with my Canon 5d mk2. I shoot tethered into the canon software and then try to view in C1. When the image open all controls are disabled? is this because it is the trial version if do what is the point in the trial version ?? I would love to process an image through C1 to see if it is any better> I sadly stopped using C1 when you released 4 because it is awful. The main disappointment for me is lack of color control. I have been teching for many many years now and have worked with the likes of Mert and Marcus and Mario Testino and they insist on being able to view the image with a curve on i.e color wash etc. This is something i can no longer offer then !!!!

Are you shooting RAW? CO 4.x can view but not adjust JPEG.

    Continuing on this topic...

I have the Canon 5D, not Mark II. I have downloaded C1 5.0 and am trying to get the software to recognize the camera and shoot tethered. No luck! Any suggestions?

First check: are you running CO 5 Pro (either activated or in trial mode)?
Second check: are there no other applications running that might grab the connection (EOS Utility, Image Capture or others)
Third check: does the camera show up in System Profiler? (Look under USB; see also viewtopic.php?p=32182#p32182)

Rafael, I use a 5DII with C1 and at one time found the same issue with high ISO, low light images. C1 was automatically applying what I considered excessive noise correction which softened/blurred images. This was apparently addressed in a later C1-4 update and is not a problem in current C1-4 release and C1-5. You can also set custom presets for noise reduction.
