Noise Reduction help.....
Hi,
I need some help, advice regarding noise reduction. I have read that C1 will adjust the NR according to your ISO (like auto adjust) and that the defaults are different for different cameras. I'm not seeing any change in the settings with different ISO images and its always at 50. I have heard that this is the same for others with different cameras. So it is me or is this not work correctly?
I use other software (LR, Photo ninja) which allows me to make my own defaults for each ISO and it will rememver our setings for each ISO. You can do this in C1 from what i can see by making your own noise reduction presets( for each ISO)however it doesn't auto apply those settings when the images are loaded, it will stick to the default. You need to select your preset for each image? Is this correct or am i doing something wrong??? I keep telling myself this can't be right, for such an advanced program.
I'm using a Canon 5D Mark III and would just like to get my noise reduction set up correctly before I start editing. I have actually attempted to use C1 in the past but this was the exact issue i had then that caused me to switch to something else. I usually have 1000+ images to go though and don't have time to adjust each images NR individually.
So if anyone can give some tips, or tell me what I'm doing wrong I'd appreciate it!!!
Thanks
Jim

The default NR value of 50 is just a relative value. Under the hood, Phase One has set a value for each ISO.
If, in general, that default amount of NR is too much (or too little), set a different value to your liking, save it as a new default and it will automatically apply to NEWLY imported images.0 -
Does that same advice work for all adjustments?
I find that the normal C1 adjustment for my raw photos (also for a Canon 5D3) results in images being a bit too saturated and a bit too bright. If I select an image, drop the saturation down a bit, raise the highlights protection up a bit and save that as a preset, will C1 then use that preset as a relative adjustment for all newly imported images? I was worried that C1 would take the settings used in the preset as absolute settings rather than relative settings.0
