Can't get Capture One 5 to work
I just downloaded Capture One 5 and get the following message when I try to open it:
"The application preferences at %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Phase_One are corrupt. Please correct or delete them and then restart the program"
I have an earlier version of Capture One that works. I tried reinstalling version 5 and it didn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Have you tried to remove the Phase_One folder you mentioned in your post? 0 -
Yes, as far as I can tell though that folder doesn't exist. Actually in the Application Data folder there doesn't appear to be a Local folder at all. I also uninstalled both versions, did a search for "Phase One" and deleted everything that came up, and then reinstalled version 5, and still got the same message. Any suggestions? -thanks 0 -

%USERPROFILE% is an enviromental variable so you won't see a folder with that name. If you are using XP, try going under My Documents\My Pictures to find the offending library files. If searching, try "Capture One" as your search phrase or files ending in ".col50"0 -

The folder exists in your user folder in Vista or 7. It is a hidden folder so you must change the folder settings to be able to see it.0 -
I am still trying to solve this problem without any luck... I am using XP and have folder options set to show hidden files and folders. In Documents and Settings there are several folders, including Administrator, All Users, and Owner. Every one of these folders has an Application Data folder, but within each one, none of them have a Local folder. I did a search for files ending in .col50 and nothing came up. I also uninstalled both versions again, did a search for both capture one and phase one, deleted everything that came up, reinstalled version 5, and got the identical message. Couch, the offending files might be in the My Pictures folder? If so, what sort of files should I be looking for there? Any one have any other suggestions? This is getting really frustrating! -thanks 0 -
On WinXP you should go to the following (hidden) folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Local Settings\Application Data\Phase_One\CaptureOne.exe_Url_0n3w3p5xmg0febceiyaayncoiff0uovg\5.0.33841.0
Substitute ..\Paul\.. with your user's name. The last part my have slightly different numbers or characters, but you get the idea. Next, delete the USER.CONFIG file in that folder and start CO5 again.
Alternatively, you may instead delete the ..\Phase_One\.. folder mentioned above in case the long subfolder name might have caused the trouble (no other files reside here than the USER.CONFIG file which contains the Capture One preferences.)0 -
Maybe "user.config" under C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Phase_One
Change "User" to your log in
Be sure to back things up, especially since you have a working copy of an earlier version.
Ahh, Paul just beat me to it.0 -
Success, I got it to work! I found this http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageid=1 and wasn't able to repair the Dot Net Framework, so i uninstalled and then reinstalled it. I then had to reinstall Capture One 5. Thanks Paul and Coach for your help. 0
