Continually loading proxies.

Hi, not for the first time my version of C1 (5.2.1) is totally unusable, as soon as I switch on it starts loading proxies, and just continually goes on adding proxies, up into the thousands if I leave it. Meanwhile I can't do any adjustments or save anything. This has happened several times, and sod's law, it always happens when I need to prepare work for customers. Any idea what I should be doing to fix this? Is there a permanent fix, because this is driving me mad. ☹️ Last time I reported it, I was ignored by the help desk, (somehow it seemed to fix itself!), I have reported it again yesterday but not expecting much support. It the past they have advised me to delete everything and start from fresh, is that the only way around it? Not even sure of my details if I do delete and reinstall a new version. Any advice would be welcomed, I'm even resorting to trying to use my Canon DPP programme which I have never used before.
