Media Pro reverts to DOS file names -- help!

My main catalogue of photos now displays folders and file names in the truncated 8-character format that DOS uses, with the result that all my file names are unreadable.

I have tried importing the catalog into a new catalog, but the problem remains.

How can I get Media Pro to display file and folder names properly?

I posted on this a day ago, but had not realized that my whole catalogue is paralyzed by the problem.

Other Media Pro catalogues do not display in this manner on my system. (XP Windows, fast processor, 2gig ram.)
