'Styles' appearing on freshly imported images
Just as quite some other people I am currently trying out Capture One Pro 7 as a potential alternative the Aperture.
I exported some images out of Aperture with XMP sidecars and then imported those into C17 and made no further adjustments. Some of the images show up, with what I believe, is an icon for styles being applied to the image. (encircled on screenshot) I have no clue what this means and how the icon got there when styles are not applied. Can anyone explain what I'm seeing?

Oops...
It should work now.0 -
You are correct that that little symbol means that something has been adjusted on that asset. However, it is entirely possible that it is something that has nothing to do with the appearance of the image, such as metadata. If you look at one of the images did the metadata sync over from the XMPs? Do you have the option to sync the xmp selected in the software preferences? 0 -
The strange thing is all the photo's have keywords/metadata applied and synced over from the XMP. But not all of them show this little icon. I changed the Sync Sidecar XMP to Full Sync, but it didn't make a difference. 0 -
Try this. You should be able to see what C1 considers to be the settings for any image this way.
Select an image in the Browser. Use the "Copy Adjustments" option to populate the Adjustments Clipboard. (Either from the Adjustments menu or use the icon with the arrow pointing up and to the right.)
Now view the Adjustments Clipboard. (The Tab icon is a square with 3 horizontal lines)
You should be able to see which items are ticked - the ticks representing what 'Edit' values are set.
I don't think imported mete data or, for example, Photographers name and Copyright information added as part of an Import process are included (rightly really, to do so would be of little help in most situations and possibly a hindrance) but any edits including ratings and colour coding and meta data set through the application will be flagged as a 'edited' action.
Styles applied at time of import (or first opening) and probably Lens corrections might be good candidates for the 'edited' flag being set but may not apply in all cases - as you have mentioned iirc.
HTH.

Thanks for your help Grant,
I copied the adjustments to the adjustment clipboard as you described. However, none of the adjustments have a checkmark in front of them. Also when I applied the adjustments to an image not having this icon, nothing happened. I would have expected that at least the icon would then appear in the image to which the adjustments were applied.
This thing is really puzzling to me.0 -
I think I've got it sorted now:
I discarded my catalog and created a fresh new one. Imported the images again. But this time I noticed a checkbox that I have overlooked last time: "Include Existing Adjustments"
With that box deselected all the images come over without the adjustment icon.
I think I have left that box checked the last time, and apparently there is something in the XMP that leads C17 to believe adjustments were made to the image.
Anyway, it seems solved for now.0
