Suggested improvements
I use this app in the same way so much I tend to lose track of where fixes could be made. The recent survey only permitted one feature request, which I dutifully submitted.
Recently I've been using iView Mac (that's the version I use: Expression Media has the same probs) in a different way, and it's exposed some problem areas which I'll list here:

PS: The "Contact Technical Support" page http://www.phaseone.com/en/SupportMain/ ... pport.aspx doesn't work for me, fails at "Select your registered product" which is inactive in Camino.

- •Preferences need to be consolidated into a single panel so trips to the menubar aren't required.
- •Certain items in the menubar belong in prefs, such as the fact that "Media Rendering" is a pref, but control over thumbnail rendering is elsewhere in the app ("Edit" menu). Catalog-specific prefs can have their own Prefs section.
- •There are times when no thumbnails are needed: I just need the data listing for the files and the ability to organize from there. Rendering thumbs etc slows catalog creation. A "No Thumbnails" option would be great: thumbs can always be 'rebuilt' later.

Further research shows that this is because PhaseOne has somehow lost my license for Expression Media. I signed on with you the minute I'd learned of the acquisition, back in late May. I have a license code which I received from you, but there seems to be no way to let your website know this, which means I can't in turn create support cases.

Incorrect. The "Registered Products" portion of the website lists your registered Hardware, not software. Further, it is not necessary to select anything in this field to create a support case.
If you purchased your Expression Media key from Phase One it will be listed in your Order History. If you purchased your Expression Media Key from MIcrosoft then we do not have record of your Key through your Phase One Account. If you own a Capture One Product Key it will be listed in License Management portion of your account.
Please create a support case and we will be happy to look into your suggestions.0 -
I hope you understand how messed up all that is. Users really shouldn't have to have special knowledge of the arcana a firm puts between what it shows them and what's really going on. 0 -
Putting this here as a memo to myself until I have time to jump through the bug-report hoops:
Importing from folders cannot be cancelled by command-. or escape. It keeps going on. Recent experience with 100000 files imported after cancel command, tying the app up for a long time. They all were lost because the app finally responded to the cancel command AFTER it had imported all the files.0
