Hardwarebeschleunigung/ make hardware quicker?

Hi, please help me to unterstand what is and what makes "Hardwarebeschleunigung", some working by start of C1-11 and in other wise v12. And now it was changed the folder for my sessions, which I only use, and it starts again. What for? What is done? Thanks, regards, lars
