CO packed up
Something's gotten completely packed up with my CO 3.7.5 WinXP), and I need some troubleshooting help.
I installed the latest WIA driver for my 20D. CO did not find the camera, though ACDSee did. After a bit of fussing, CO did find the camera, and showed JPEG captures. I set the camera for RAW and tried another capture. This time, nothing happened and CO froze with "Busy" blinking on the camera's LCD. I had to close CO through Windows Task Manager. I launched CO again, but this time it said there was no Canon camera connected. This dialog box would not close so I had to close CO through TM again.
Interestingly, TM shows two copies of CO Pro running, both "Not Responding"
Now when I connect the camera, CO goes into "hourglass" mode, and that's where it sits. The camera continues to work, and captures images to its CF card. But CO doesn't do anything but hourglass.
If I disconnect the camera, eventually one of the copies of CO vanishes from TM, and a Camera Status dialog box pops up, saying "A Canon camera is not connected."
Re-connecting the camera causes the usual Windows "Found New Hardware, EOS 20D" to pop up above the system tray. CO remains in "hourglass" mode. Again, it must be closed with TM.
I have a photo shoot coming up in a few days and hope to get this worked out.

On second look, this does not appear to be a CO issue. It's starting to look like a hardware issue: the USB connection might be funky. Canon's provided capture program, DPP, also can't find the camera.

It appears that the updated WIA driver from Canon was the culprit, and CO was an innocent bystander. I removed the new driver, then re-installed the software from the original CD that came with the camera. Fixed the problem.
