These are pictures of old paper pictures that I wanted to save in a digital form. I do not want to use too much space on my external drive. Shall I take the pictures in raw.
    I am a newbie.

    Hi,

to start, I've generally preferred to use a macro lens for this type of work because it has a flat field.
Then I use to shoot RAW because it allows broader and easier adjustments, for example to correct for colour casts.
And it's not necessary to have the files on your C drive. They can be stored as well on any external drive. The only thing to do is to inform C1 where the folder is (browser in C1). Then, when the folder with the files is opened in C1, at first opening C1 creates a subdirectory structure in the images' folder which holds all the preview and adjustment information. So if this entire image folder (including subdirectories) is moved to another place or drive, all what's needed to do in C1 is to use again C1's browser and direct C1 to the media / place to where the images were moved.
