Will maximum catalog size grow?
Real world being what it is, I've got a question that is neither theoretical nor without time constraint. I've got two years of files cleaned up and now placed in an EM2 catalog. Using only medium-size/quality previews, the catalog is already at 1.6 gigabytes. With the hard-limit of 1.8 per EM2 catalog, that's that for that catalog.
I've got 8 more years of digital files to go, and 30+ years of "legacy" material we will be working at bringing "online". Using current EM2 limits, that will soon be what, another four or five catalogs just to get CURRENT files "in", not counting what the missus needs for new work being shot as we go along.
I realize that one can search across multiple catalogs and all ... but it seems like it would be easier for real-world butt-ugly "iffy-ness" to play havoc than having the missus utilize one or two catalogs.
I don't suppose anyone from PhaseOne is willing to talk about what they're working on for catalog sizes? That would have a major effect on a couple decisions I'm going to need to make in the next week or so ... not that I'd expect the "new" version to be out by then but in whether I feel it is worthwhile to wait or ... jump. 😭

One possibility to keep catalog sizes lower: use integrated thumbnails/previews if your file format provides that. 0 -

Doesn't help when one has a couple T-bytes of files to catalog. Sadly.
