Screen Redraw Anomaly with Open CL Enabled
With Open CL enabled, when the screen redraws, the overexposure warning (black, red and yellow) is shown for 2 to 4 seconds even with the Show Exposure Warning option turned off. On some images green patches that resembles the focus mask are shown even with Show Focus Mask toolbar button turned off.
This can happen when one switches from one image to another, hitting the auto adjustment key (Ctrl+L) or undo keys (Ctrl+Z), or resize the COP 6.0.1 application window itself.
Has anyone seen this?

P.S.
After a few iterations, the COP 6.0.1 can crash when the memory usage reaches a certain level.

For all of you trying to buy expensive video cards in order to see "Open CL" enabled, you might be slightly disappointed that it really does not buy you that much at this point.
Why is the CO 6 so memory intensive and slow as compared to CO 5, I have no idea. As a software engineer myself for a large software company, my team would not allow the performance and stability of our software to degrade so much for a new release. Our customers would not be happy.
I know things will eventually work out but at this moment, if the Open CL option is not enabled on your system, it might be a blessing as enabling it brings its own can of worms.
My Open CL capable i7 machine just crashed again as I was editing some photos. I do hope things can improve quickly.0 -
Hi Nelson,
Thanks for saving me $$$. I was thinking of getting the card just to experience OpenCL. The GPU performance boost on Photoshop CS4/CS5 was a wonderful addition and it improved my experience.
I was sad to read your post and others that C1 PRO 6.0.1 came riddled with bugs and unacceptable performance from a premium RAW software converter.0 -
I opened a support case about this issue. P1 is aware of this problem. To be fair, the Open CL problem is tied with the memory usage (leak) and instability issues, which in turn, might be caused by unstable display drivers. Of course this is just my speculation.
What is rather interesting is that the CO 5.2.1 is quite stable and fast but cannot do local and keystone adjustments. These two features alone make me want to use CO 6.0.1 more. Each time I get fed up with CO 6, I would fire up the CO 5 and just to realize it does not have those features.
PhotoShop CS4 has its own issues with run-away memory usage issues which can also lead to crashes after editing a number of large 16-bit TIFF files from the 5D2.0
