a few niggles & suggestions
Firstly, compliments on a really stable first release, painless by my experience & thankfully you guys haven't messed around (sorry, I meant to say 'upgraded'!) with the familiar interface too much.
A few useful things that seem to have dropped off the new release, & a few requests, as I have experienced, although some may be unique to my installation (Win7 64):
No output recipe is enabled by default, v7 used to process according to the last used recipe in a fresh session, it's annoying to have to select my default recipe each time.
When opening v7 sessions, it seems I have to manually select the base characteristics v8 engine for hdr etc. for each individual image, can this be automated when upgrading a session to v8 on opening?
Love the new 'adjust selected layer' enhancements, but the colour editor function disappears when 'adjusting selected layer'. I guess its trying to sample from the mask, but its not much use as it is.
I think it was back in v6 when importing images it was possible to default to a non tethered import, a small thing but it just used to stop creating additional unnecessary folders, which I liked.
Only a week in to using v8, will update if I find any other niggles, & will watch out for comments.

John,
It seems to me that the first recipe on the list is selected and used for display by default.
If you don't activate a specific recipe that is the one that would be used for processing. Tick the "Show only selected" box and the current recipe tick box will be automatically set.
These are my initial impressions and I think they offer an improvement over the way they were in V7 for my sloppy way of working whereby I could forget that a recipe off screen on the current list may be active and so have the system creating outputs I did not want.
I would guess that if you place your default recipe at the top of the list that would become the default but I have yet to check whether the last used recipe in a session is still retained and selected. I would agree that it would be best if it was.
I can't comment on the session upgrade question as I have yet to work on an old session as a session. Thanks for the heads up though!
I'm not sure about your description of the colour editor operation. At first sight it seems to work as per V7 for a regular adjustment layer but is not functional for Clone and Heal layers - which seems to make sense to me. Are you seeing something different?
Creating the "Capture" folder even when not tethered does not bother me much. One less decision to make in the import process!
On the other hand when creating a Session does the Template option extend to setting a default Recipe and other values below the basic Session structure? I have not tried that part yet. (And is it me or have Sessions been de-emphasised in the help file?)
HTH.

Hi Grant
If you have 'Colour Editor' visible in your tool panel, you'll see the eyedropper colur disc, with 'Adjust Selected Layer' selected in the tool options if you then create an adjustment layer the colour picker disappears...you can only adjust the base layer...
I'm sending a bug report as I don't think this is supposed to happen.
Thanks

Hi John,
Only the Advanced Color Editor and the Skin Tone tool is available in when working with layers. Not the Basic Color Editor0
