Congratulations
For a very long time I have waited for the 4.0 release. Believe it was first discussed on Michael Tapes site about 1,5 years ago. And I am not disappointed!
Its fast and what I can find rather free of severe bugs. Good!
Two features which I really missed and use quite a lot are now included that is the highlight/shadow tool and free rotation/straighten tool.
All good features in the old version are still available and I can still use the Magne profiles even if I find the Generic very good.
Nice layout. And the manual is very nice and it took me only a couple of hours to find my favourite features and work flow. After half a year of trying I am still not comfortable with Lightroom! I think Lightroom is more like a small dinosaur and this program could be compared with an antelope. I like it fast, straight and simple!
Why so many complains? Have they read the manual? Do they compare with Pro version? My only problem is that I still have a number of free upgrades, seven!!

Did you ever use a previous Pro version?0 -
I am also a proud and happy owner of C1.v4. It has everything what I need and use.
The layout is much better than in the previous version. Its clear and easy. beside the detailled tools, the Quick tab is fine working. I like much the highlight and shadow tool.
Speed: Importing raw and show them in the C1 is going much faster. Its really helpful. As well the processing speed is much faster than C1 v3.7.7. Now one 16bit Tiff from a Canon 5D takes just 12seconds than compared to v37.7.7 about 1.5min.
The main feature why I do use C1 is the raw processor. The images are great quality. Much better than the Camera Raw Tool from Photoshop CS3.
I have been used DxO and Camera Raw from time to time but I was never really happy.
I do not see why I should use Lightroom. Thats not in the main way a raw converter its more a database program. It can do abit image editing. For that I use Photoshop Cs3 Extended. For my own I love the specialised softwares like Photoshop (image editing), Neat Image or Noise Ninja (noise reduction), Nik Sharpener (sharpening) and for raw converting the fantastic Capture One.
Lightroom and Aperture can do much more than Capture One but not in high quality or not in that high quality like Capture One.
I do not know if the dissappointed users ever looked into the handbook. There everything is clearly stated.
Sure its not the PRO version but I do not need thethered shooting or something like that. You cannot compare the C1 v3.7.7PRO with C1 v4. Because v4 is LE and the C1 v5 will be PRO in 2008.
so thats my sight of this really fantastic product. Its gone long until out but the waiting was rewarded.

Did you read their posts? No one is disappointed about the image quality and about the new features. It's all about usablity, workflow and elementary changes. And as the Pro version will be based on the current V4 (LE) pro users commenting on V4 too.

See, Martin, that's just it. It's NOT the Pro version and what I and countless others have been using IS the Pro version. Why didn't they release the Pro version first? Then water it down like Photoshop Elements.0 -

Martin, I haven't been comparing to the PRO version. IMO, it doesn't even compare favorably to LE. True enough. it has some very nice, new features (variants, faster, still the best RAW conversion on the market IMO) but, it has slowed down my productivity DRASTICALLY. Unfortunately, the type of slowdown I'm referring to will not be cured simply by getting used to a new workflow. Very simple things, like having to re-pick the profile for every image, no longer having having single-key shortcuts, non-focused previews except at certain %'s, all add up to unncecessary lost time. While the time lost of these simple things may seem inconsequential if you're just working on an image or two, when you're having to run through 1000-1200 images the cummulative time lost adds up to about an hour/day extra computer time. New features lose their luster quickly when the lost of the old ones starts costing you $$. An upgrade should boost productivity, not degrade it!0 -
I have to admit that I am not a pro and normally I only develop about 100-200 photos in each batch. I see no main problem or delay to work with the shift key when developing a batch. For me the new version 4.0 is very fast and quite ok , of course I think some parts could be improved but as I see it is the first version and so much easier to work with than some other programs.
Yes I once owned and used the PRO version (after SE version) but that was too much for me. I do not need the tethered feature etc and the LE was more to my preferences, simple, fast end efficient.0 -

Have you tried to mitigate the inconvenience of not having sticky camera profiles (to be set in Preferences) with a simple copy/apply action only once for each folder?0
