Usually a sign of bad firewire cables or ports. What camera are you using? Have you tried another? Also try deleting the proxies folder in your capture folder.

If you have a Canon camera try to remove the CF-card and shoot tethered without the card inside the camera.

Might be a good time for a support case and include a raw file so we can see the images being produced

Well...I don't think so. I also have a ton of disconnects (thankfully no distorted files). No CF cards in, different computers (iMac, Macbook Pro), different camera (D3X, D300s), different cables, etc. The disconnects and freeze-ups are a chronic problem.

Same here with a Phase One H25 connected to a Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 running Lion 10.7.3.

Was out the other day & every few exposures things would freeze up, I would then have to unplug the back wait a few seconds then plug in again. I was also getting the odd random "freaky" image ??

    Cheers

If you are connecting an H25 to an iMac you will need to use a powered hub because the iMac will not supply enough power to the back which can result in the types of problems you are experiencing.

    Hello,

We have purchased 5 645DF Mamiyas with Leaf Aptus II5 backs, all running in different Mac G5's (various versions). Since we purchased these, a few months ago, we have been experiencing disconnects for no apparent reason, after which, we have to physically disconnect the cable from the back, turn the camera off, restart the program and connect the cable to finally power the camera. Most of the time, this will not solve the problem, having to repeat this process several times. VERY annoying to say the least. As we continued to experience this, Bear Images, who sold us the equipment, payed us a visit to figure out what the problem was but were not able to figure it out, end of line... We are currently using the 9Ft cables originally provided with the cameras.
Any ideas? On a good day, I have to restart only 4-6 times, on a bad one, possibly 12-20, other photographers are experiencing similar circumstances. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

With regard to Capture One 6, Macs with G5 processors are not supported. Can you try an Intel Mac?

As the Leaf Aptus II systems cannot run a Battery in the back at the same time as they are tethered, it IS NECESSARY to use a Powered Firewire Repeater Hub.

Just to clarify, in case there is any confusion, the Apple G5 systems were discontinued in 2006. The newer systems, which look very similar, are not using the G5 processors but Intel based processors. Please double check to ensure these systems are post 2006 and are in fact Mac Pro towers as appose to G5 systems.

Again, unless a repeater hub was used with these (I assume) Mac Pro towers, the 9ft cable alone will simply not provide adequate power.

Thank you for the responses, we ARE using Intel Macs running 10.6.8, I was not clear about it. Also, we are all using Mamiyas and one Canon D5, which presents no problems. I will try deleting the proxies folder and using the powered repeater, which up to now, we had been using (when needed) without being powered as an extender (that would be two 9 ft. stretches of firewire). It seems that this may be the culprit, will power the cable and report back.

Many thanks, this is very helpful.

    Germán.

Well, the powered repeater seems to have stabilized the connection quite a bit, we still get a disconnect once in a while, including an occasion it took me 7 restarts of the app to get it to work normally, but, other than that, it is really better.
I have another question, the ICC profile seems to keep defaulting to RGB Profoto, even from one exposure to another one it changes by itself. I can not find a way of setting a default in the preferences, would anyone have a suggestion to overcome this?

    Thank you.

Did you try this: Under Capture, Next Capture Adjustments, set ICC Profile to "Copy from Last".

I should have checked that, it somehow defaulted to a different setting.
Many thanks for your response Dale.

I did the same exact thing, and overlooked the icc setting. Someone here enlightened me. What goes around comes around.
