    Peter,

Is it always the same folder you are exporting to?

Is LR set to monitor that folder and open when something arrives in it?

    Are you Exporting or Processing?

Processing. I sent the processed file to a folder on an external drive, and then to the computer's desktop. The auto import in LR is not enabled. I tried several different process recipes. In each case, LR opens with it's import dialog.

I discovered something else. This is only happening with on catalog. I just opened an older one, and it processed a file to the desktop without opening Lightroom.

Well, I don't use catalogs but I don't recall reading anything about them doing anything different unless you are trying out "round tripping" of some sort.

If you are not producing some sort of file type that is auto invoking LR somehow (I don't have LR either so that may not be an options I guess) or setting the process to "Open with" or somehow invoking "Edit With" for that catalog and that catalog alone it sounds like a puzzle.

Maybe some of the Mac "roundtrippers" can help out?

As Grant suggested, it might be related to the folder you export/process to and how Lr monitors that folder. Select another output folder for that catalog and see what happens.

I have selected several output folder, and even chosen the desktop, and this catalog still exhibits the same behavior. I have given up on this and just created an Assignments 2015-2 catalog that functions normally.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

I know you've already checked to be sure your process recipe isn't set to open Lightroom so this is a bit of a long shot... it is possible that you have a second process recipe selected that might be set to launch lightroom?

Yes! That was it. I have a process recipe set to open in Lightroom, and it was selected as well. The problem was, I have enough recipes that this particular one was hidden until I scrolled down the list to find it. Once it was deselected, all is well.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Click "Show Enabled Only" so that you have better visibility of which recipes are in use at any moment in time.
