Capture Pilot with the new ipad gen 4

I am about to buy a couple of new iPad's.

I own a couple of gen 1 ipads at the moment and although they work, they are very slow and struggle to keep up with shooting with the p65 or a canon. very slow to scroll through when the camera is shooting, or even whenthe computer has caught up (a 2.2 quad i7 laptop with 16gb ram and sad HD).

So, will a new ipad with the faster wifi fix this? what slows down Capture Pilot? Is it the wifi? or the processor in the iPad? or the laptops power?

all i want is the fastest combo of gear. but if the iPad speed or wifi doesnt cause a slow down, then i will buy two ipad 3"s (for cheaper) instead.

  The New iPad will be faster plain and simple.
  How much faster I cannot quantify as the majority depends on the Network Signal and as we do not have any 4th Gen. iPads here I can't speak from first hand experience with that exact model.

  I have made a test with an iPad 1 Gen and an iPad 3 Gen. Using Capture Pilot in the same Network. To my big surprise the iPad #1Gen was always a little bit faster in displaying the picture and rendering it to 100% immediatley after it shows up on the display.

  thats interesting. could be because it only has a quarter of the res of the images to display. i guess this is a good reason to get the faster graphic card of the gen 4. The other reason for getting the newer ipads is that i want to show my book on them as well, so the retina is important.

  I have now tested the same procedure with the new iPad 4Gen. (iPad 4 versus iPad 1) The result: Capture Pilot starts up much more faster on the #4. The catalogue view is generated much more faster on the #4. The fullsize image ist displayed only a little bit faster on the #4. The 100 % image is displayed nearly in the same time but the iPad #1 is a little bit faster.

  Thanks for sharing. The comparison makes clear where the iPad is the bottle-neck, and where other parts in the chain (network, computer with Capture One generating the views) play a role.
  To improve network performance to it is best to connect the computer wired. When computer and iPad share the same wireless connection it can put addition strain on speed. It all depends on other factors and hardware of computer and network whether this will help but the more you optimize, the better the overall performance will be.

  Please do not forget screen resolution that 4 time bigger on retina display. This means that iPad 1 generates 4 time less previews than iPad 3/4.
  From other side great iPad 4 performance provides faster network connectivity and better application speed in general. So the result described above makes sense.
