Read Only

At time when I open a catalog, I get a message saying that I can only use it as 'Read Only" because I am already using that catalog. I have to "save as" if I make changes. What is going on here? The message makes it sound as if I have the catalog open somewhere else.

  Often caused by an unexpected quit while editing a catalogue. EM creates a hidden name_of_catalogue.ivc_0 (1,2...) zero byte flag file when you open a catalogue. To manage sharing (e.g. on a network volume). Sometimes these files don't get cleaned up properly.

  Thos could be the problem. I was creating a catalog of the work from a large architectural job, 10 projects shot, all the raw and finished files. The catalog is over 500 MB. After saving it, I got the spinning beachball and had to force quit EM.
