Shadow and Highlight detail question please

I am unable to maintain both highlight and shadow detail using Capture One with my P45+ files. If I set my white point so highlights aren't blown out, my shadows go pitch black. My files have enormous dynamic range yet I can't take advantage of this. I have tried everything that I know of. Does anyone have any tips I may not have thought of besides making multiple files, processing for shadows and highlights then blending in Photoshop.? These are outdoor landscape shots, not studio shots with controlled lighting.

  You don't say but looking at your portfolio I'd say try some ND grads for the sky and see if that helps bring the bright areas of what you are shooting within the stop range of the back.....?

  ahem.....lightroom....from my experience LR pulls much more DR out of the phase files then C1 does....the whole profile thing with phase/C1 seems to me like every file gets some kind of curve attached before you even see it/start adjusting it....that makes the files pop more...i prefer to see the data as raw as possible and i find LR give me that....
  afaik sinar is the only back maker that does not put an adjustment over the raw file....

  Well yes, you could buy some more software you don't need, or use a different back that you posisbly don't have or would want. Or you could spend $20 on some filters and get back to being a photographer and taking pictures instead of wasting you time retouching and faffing about... Only a thought.
