Metadata can reside in multiple locations. If you have C1 Preferences -> Image -> Auto Sync sidecar XMP set to Load or Full Sync, you may face a situation where you set new information into C1's session/catalog metadata storage and then "Auto" (re)transfers metadata from the image file and/or the sidecar file to the session/catalog, overwriting your new data.

You may have to experiment to find settings you like. I maintain metadata outside C1 and have C1 Auto Sync sidecar XMP set to None. If I want to see image metadata in C1, I select the image(s) and manually use Reload Metadata in the metadata tool.

Thanks, yes I adjusted my prefs XMP to Load, and the problem went away. I'll keep playing with options.

I've never encountered this before, and have used C1 for many years.

I recently discussed the different sync settings in a post

    Maybe that helps.

It basically says to set the Sync metadata always to None, unless you really need another setting. Manually reload metadata is often a safer option.
