One handed browsing, with double click function to show/hide viewer

When I have the Browser up front (Viewer hidden, Browser filling the screen, not a filmstrip), double clicking on a thumbnail will "show" the Viewer with the corresponding photo up front. I can then crop, rate, adjust nearly everything with the mouse, but in order to go back to the Browser ("hide" the Viewer), I need to reach for the keyboard and press G or navigate the menus. Double clicking on the photo with the Select tool does nothing. Why? How about making the same double click that shows the Viewer also hide the Viewer? This will really make all your ex-Aperture and LR users happy. And to make *everyone* happy, anyone who doesn't like it can turn it off in the prefs or keyboard shortcuts.
I think this is a no brainer, really. I asked for it a couple years ago and never got a response. How about now?

As the Select tool does not have any function on double-click on the image in the viewer, why not hiding the viewer (like keybard shortcut "G").
This is no rocket-science, just call the same function as G in the event double-click. Or, why don't you tell us if this request is a bad idea.
