Opening Capture One Express free version, with Catalog on external drive on Mojave

I am using Capture one Express - free version
I have created a new catalog on an external hard drive.
When I open Capture one it always asks if I want a New Catalog or Browse for an existing one.
If I choose browse, it opens with the Pictures window in the Finder, then I have to browse through all the files on my external drive to find the catalog file, then it works ok.

I made an alias of the catalog file and put that in the Pictures window so now when it opens in the Picture window, I can select the alias and it opens C1 ok.
All the imports are being recorded ok on the external drive catalog, no problems there.
My Question, there must be a way for Capture One to know my catalog is on an external drive and go straight to it without me having to Browse for it every time?
When C1 opens, can I default it to the external drive catalog location instead of going to the Pictures window?

I am new to C1, just learning the hard way.

Did you try opening Capture One while pressing the alt/option key ?

Hi Robert,

Yes I tried that, no difference. I am out of ideas unless it doesn’t open the catalog on an external drive with the free version
