Allow signatures to be specified per image

When artists sign their work, the signature is often a carefully considered component of the composition. For example painters commonly take care where and how their paintings are signed - the signature is part of the art.

PROBLEM

C1 currently does not easily allow for a custom signature workflow since watermarks and overlays are not associated with specific images, instead associated with recipes, and globally, respectively. This creates a situation where signatures have to be applied one-by-one for each image, exported, then destroyed for the next signature to be done (see https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360013184037-Watermark-or-overlay-per-image-?page=1#community_comment_360003285958). This renders batch processing useless since each image must be exported manually, and forces constant error-prone duplication of effort whenever updates or touch-ups are needed.

SOLUTION

Since watermarks address various use-cases and are likely already integrated in many workflows, I suggest introducing a new tool called "Signature". This tool would allow for the placement of text or a graphic, exactly like a watermark, but associated directly with specific images, like annotations. A signature applied to one image would not affect signatures in any other images. The signature would be saved directly with the image itself, like an adjustment.

Additionally, recipes would provide a panel of options to customize handling of signatures during export. The default would be to resize the signature along with the image maintaining the exact proportions (since it is a part of the art). A second option would be to omit the signature completely for cases where the image is very small (ie thumbnails) or to simply have a clean output of the image. And finally a third option to allow custom scaling of the signature for that output.

CONCLUSION

Image signing is a ubiquitous activity that should be a first order feature of C1 that can be employed without workarounds or having to give up other features.

I'd have to agree with the above comments by Baz.

For my Workflow, I color correct, crop, level the horizon etc for each image individually.

To export the Images I want to use from those edits & each Watermark is resized & re-positioned to suit, which is now much slower after the most recent update.

I much preferred the Previous version before the update for this reason.
