    Hi,

Try selecting the images you want to place in the new Catalog and then use the Export as Catalog function to create a new catalog. Using the import images function will just create a new catalog with those images and not copy adjustments held in the old catalog as it doesn't know they are cataloged.

Don is right. Please be aware that the adjustments and metadata are stored in the (old) catalog database, not with the images. This is by design.

    Hi,

There is an option for exporting the file as "EIP", which is supposed to include the adjustments.

The "EIP" export suggestion is nice, but this creates a new version of each image file. What I think the OP is after, are the adjustments in the old catalog and bring that over to the new catalog, with the images remaining unaffected. The export catalog is designed to do that.

In case you have multiple catalogs exported from subsets of images from the old catalog, you can subsequently import these catalog into the new catalog.

To divide a large catalog first make a Group for each partition (Partition A, Partition B etc).

Opt 1 Create a Project and album inside each Group.  Copy the desired images  for that partition to the Album.

Opt 2 Move the Group/Project/Album structure containing the desired images to the partition Group.

Mark the images in each partition with a keyword. Check for images with more than one partition keyword, and decide whether to keep them as duplicates or remove them from some partitions.

For small partitions, select the partition's Group and export as a catalog.

If a partition is more than say 10,000 images, use Finder to make a copy of the originating catalog file. Open the copied catalog, go to All Images, and delete from the catalog all the images that do not have the keyword for this partition. Now remove the Groups, projects and albums for the unwanted partitions.
