Performance / bugs with Big Sur&Rosetta2 on Apple M1?
Hi,
Is there any brave ones who have already ran C1 on M1 and could report general find outs, overall performance feeling, possible bugs etc. for us who are thinking of pushing the buy button in Apple Store?
Humble thanks in advance,

Search the forum. At least one use reports running Capture One on one of the new Macs.

Since this is the post that comes up first when searching for Capture One and M1, thought I'd comment here. I tried searching the forums, on person says it works and that's it, another post says good news its working but quotes a tweet that is just C1 saying not to use it until they officially support it, and then lots of comments from people who haven't actually tested it. All apps in general will work on M1, so if it didn't work that would be news worthy. The question is how well does it work. Since while of course it won't be anywhere near as good as when the software is updated for it, most apps are running much faster on entry level M1's on Rosetta than they are on Powerful Intel Macs. So the person asking and the rest of us our curious how much faster C1 runs in Rosetta M1 than on a Intel Mac currently. Based on responses I've seen on the forums I imagine reddit or YouTube will result in more detailed responses and tests. On reddit for instance I see someone saying, "
I have the MBP M1 with 16GB of RAM and 2TB Storage. It runs C1 significantly faster than my Late 2016 15" with the i7 and dedicated graphics. I know that is not the comparison you asked for but it is what I can tell you first hand.
Most of the "performance" feels anecdotal but I shoot the Sony a7RIV so the files are pretty big and where I see the biggest improvement is on the export. Happy to answer any specific questions or test anything you may be interested in." Another says, "
I had my friend with a M1 MBA 8GB try Capture One out with my 24 MP RAWs and a 5k display connected with lid open.
He filmed it for me (so there's that overhead as well).
Worked 5x (at least) better than my Intel Mac Mini with iGPU, and this is Rosetta 2 so far (emulated x86)." Another notes they exported 67 raw to jpg on intel and took 9:12 minutes, m1 took 2:29 (though that's an intel air vs mbp entry) so while certainly much faster that isn't apples to apples.
As for when M1 support for C1 is coming, on Nov 20, C1 officially said in a tweet it's coming early 2021. So while some feared it might be years based on how long some other apple support has taken, looks like will only be a few more months.
