Management of files and folders
ImplementedI have two issues with management of folders and files in Capture One 20, which were never resolved to my satisfaction despite numerous requests.
1. Suppose I have a folder named 'Mumbai' in Capture One and two subfolders 'Leica' and 'Sony' in that folder. Clearly the subfolders represent pictures taken in Mumbai on a Leica and on a Sony, respectively. I could NOT open the subfolders simultaneously to compare images taken with Leica with those taken with Sony. In Lightroom, the parent folder, i.e., Mumbai can be opened to show the contents of both subfolders simultaneously. I attempted to get help with doing this from technical staff at Capture One without success. Ultimately, I was told that it could not be done. CAN CAPTURE ONE 21 OPEN ALL SUBFOLDERS IN A FOLDER SIMULTANEOUSLY?
2. What is the maximum file size in Capture One 21? I don't mean pixel dimensions, I mean file size. Today's AI tools, such as Topaz, return file sizes in excess of 1 Gb. While Lightroom can easily import these TIFF files, I was unable to get Capture One 20 to recognize any TIFF file larger than 1 Gb. Has Capture One 21 addressed this problem? Technical support at Capture One was never able to address the question of maximum file size; they kept on confusing the issue of file size with the related but distinct concept of pixel dimensions.
Unless these, rather elementary, issues have been addressed in Capture One 21, I would be reluctant to update.
On a different issues best left to another discussion, the print module in Capture One 20 leaves much to be desired.
