Why would the paths be different if the photos are stored on a NAS drive?

    Well not for me?

What's different for your directory/path? Is one SMB based and the other AFP?
Because Apple can also access SMB (and that's actually faster most of the time)

This sounded almost to good to be true. And unfortunately it is. When using an external disk where the RAW files are stored, CO1 still can not find the folders (or drive for that matter) when switching from my windows pc to my macbook pro. I still have to use "relocate".

    @ C-M-B:

    These are my paths:

    On Mac: /Volumes/home/Drive/Photos
    On Win: S:\Drive\Photos

No the same (both access via SMB), the same location on the NAS in Lightroom and the photos are offline after switching between Mac and Win.

    @ Christiaan mak:

Interesting, I actually discovered it while plugging in a hard drive with photos on Win after using it on Mac, no relocation necessary. That's when I checked if the same was true for my location on the NAS and this also works without relocating. Both with C21.

Did you try to switch again between Mac and Win after relocating the files ? I had to do this once (C1 would first have to know the location on both systems) and afterwards I didn't have to relocate anymore.

I don't know what's going on. I'm happy with it though, just want to understand why, would be useful for others as well.
