sessions folders, converting into catalog?
So I made a new session, imported my images from a folder I made:
C:/documents/name client 1/RAWfilescamera1
C:/documents/name client 1/RAWfilescamera2
After processing some of those files, I started working on a new job. Made a new session and those images too:
C:/documents/name client 2/RAWfiles
During import I noticed the preview panel was being populated by images of client 1 and 2. Stopped my import, deleted everything I saw of client 1 because they were already imported in a different session.
Got a bad feeling about it, closed session of client 2, opened session of client 1 and noticed it had deleted all the photos I had previously edited for client 1 :-(
Reimported client 1 and spent the whole evening re-editing all the images.
Now, for some reason the reimport of client 1 files created a folder structure in my documents folder that used a naming configuration from an old shoot and put all the raw files of camera 1 and camera 2 together there.
I am so confused about this.
All the original files I put in: C:/documents/name client 1/RAWfilescamera1 and C:/documents/name client 1/RAWfilescamera2
Capture One made a singel folder C:/documents/name client sept 2019/RAWfiles containing all RAWs of camera 1 and 2
Capture One also made a folders in C:/documents/name client sept 2019/RAWfiles called ´CaptureOne´ that contain two more folders:
Cache
Setting140
The catalog structure of Lightroom was a lot easier to understand. You had a catalog and your raw files could be on the internal hard drive, a NAS or an external hard drive - you can link to any folder. Capture One catalogs are not like that and sessions are even more different with the Cache and Setting140 folders.
If I want to move my files for client 1 to a NAS, is it possible to relink it to my session if I open Capture One sometime in the future? I guess I just have to pickup and move folder called C:/documents/name client sept 2019/RAWfiles to my NAS?
On a sidenote, is it possible to work with a catalog similar to LR? For every new shoot I did, I made a LR catalog on my internal hard drive with the name of the client. RAW files of the shoot would live on my NAS. They would be linked by using ´update folder location´
Can Capture One do this? Or could I convert this session into a catalog?

I don't understand the problem Andrew.
For reasons that have nothing to do with the capabilities of the 2 programs I "parked" CaptureOne in December 2019 and worked mainly in LR for a bit.
The circumstances changed and I was (happily) able to dump LR and return full time to CaptureOne in September. All the image files for both programs reside in the Pictures folder and were therefore easliy imported to a new CaptureOne catalog (yes, I know you can convert a LR library but it suited me to go back to the originals).
I'm sure tthere must be an equivalent pathway in Windows.

hi Billtils thanks for the reply. I could not log into the forum, hence this late reply, apologies.
Problem is that I have a folder with all the RAW files on my mac and capture one created another folder with all the same RAW files in. I now have twice the amount of space taken up and If I delete the folder capture one made, all the edits are gone.
I cannot figure out how to clean this up and make it lean without any bloated folders. Very confusing.
What could i do to prevent this in the future? Not make a session but a catalog?? Can I convert this session into a catalog?
I see the folder CO has linked to has a little hart next to it:

Can I set the source folder differently? Similar to LR the command UPDATE FOLDER LOCATION?
And when I do this, how can I make all the star selected images to show up?
