Yes, they are seriously trying to get rid of their (remaining) customers.

A very poor release v20, they will fool the customers. The competition never sleeps...

I am a subscriber to the Nikon version. I was going to buy the license when my sub expired. But no more and no more sub. It's back to FOSS for me. Such foolishness! I paid $25 for my Affinity perpetual license.

I have been a customer since 2007. But that's enough now. The competition is already waiting. Goodbye Capture One. Farvel.

Instead of upgrading I’ll be switching to something else.  That’s a 25% increase in price on Pro and a 36% increase on the camera specific versions which is completely ridiculous.  You guys seem to be doing everything you can to drive your customers away.  So… Good Bye.

I can edit my Nikon z7 II files in Adobe Camera Raw as well as Luminar and others but still cannot in Capture One Pro 21.

It is rather brash to not support new cameras as well as competitors, not even tell your customers when you will support their new camera and also raise the price.

I have been a customer for awhile now and I like the way the product works, especially compared to those others but I'm not going to continue to be digitally cuckholded by you.

I also don‘t understand the marketing strategy of capture one. I got about 10 emails with preorder offer. They asked me to pay for a new version without any information about new features and without a release date. This is not normal for me to ask people to pay more than 200€ without any information. Finally then I saw a video with the new features and I was not impressed and made a decision not to buy. Now I get an email that if I do not buy it now, it will even more expensive. I try to say it as friendly as I can: did they lose the connection to the reality? For this money I can use Lightroom and Photoshop for 1 year and buy Luminar.

    Hi Johannes,

I've been using Capture One + Affinity Photo for quite a while.  I'm very satisfied with Affinity Photo.  Check it out.  For RAW processing I do like Capture One, but as you have said the company have lost their sense of reality.  They have 1) increased the price dramatically for upgrades 2) Issued a new release trying to get people to buy it before knowing what is in it, 3) we know why now because the new features are few, and 4) reduced the number of seats from 3 to 1 while increasing the price 25%+.  That's just not a company I think most people will want to deal with going forward.

For RAW processing, I'm looking at Exposure X6 and/or going back to Lightroom and keeping Affinity Photo.

Thank you a lot. I will try affinity photo this weekend.

Yes, the million preorder emails to upgrade without details was ridiculous. If C1 offer some update that seems worth it, I'll pay. In the meantime, since I'm still printing out of PS, I'll look into Affinity.

One more recommendation for Affinity Photo. It is very good.

A good alternative is DxO Photolab. During the last years DxO has introduced many extensions. And the quality of raw processing is very close to C1.

I'm very satisfied with my V20. I will look what happens with C1 in autumn, when the new releases will come. The new update price of C1 is similar to a DxO Elite Version. Either C1 will offer a real upgrade or it will be time to change.

Hello everyone. Thank you for your advice. I really think about to change to a alternative. Today I had my first experience with the support of capture one. After that I needed to cool down for 10 minutes. I have a stupid bug in c1 v20. When I export more than 1 image, the first image is always black. Other images are ok. So I need always to export all images, delete the first exported image and export only the first image again. Sometimes I forget it and later I see a black image and need to find the source files to export it again. You can imagine, that is killing my nerves. So I wrote a bug report with screenshots, description, my row files, my exported files. They asked for log files and computer information. I sent it all to them. Today I got the answer that I use not the newest version of c1 v20. There is a newer version and may be this will solve my problem. And they just closed my bug report. After that I got an email „are you satisfied with our support? Yes or no?“ And of course the newest version has the same problem for me. So I think it is easier just to use an other software.

I find it very scary to read about all these new bugs in V21.

I don't mind paying a premium price for a premium product, but the quality is just not there with C1.

V21 was so underwhelming in terms of offering new functionality / removal of limitations / responding to actual user requests, it seens very baffling to follow this up with yet another price hike. Upgrading to a new C1 version used to be significantly cheaper.

I'll be using my V20 version -- the one before they botched up the brush selection and then only repaired half of the issues in the subsequent version -- but at this point it seems unlikely that I'll ever upgrade again. I stopped recommending C1 to others a while ago already. Too bad, there was a lot to like about C1 but the company appears to have lost the plot.

The product itself is very good. The last release was a fooling around. C1's customer focus is miserable. In summary it means: Currently no recommendation for C1.
