Advice in catalog organization : project vs albums
I'm currently testing a new software for migrating an Aperture library (20 000 pics, 30 000 considering jpeg +raw pairs) to Capture One. The benefits promised being the migration of hierarchical keywords, visages, and IA to keep most edits done under Aperture.
However, they choose to replicate the hierarchy of the Aperture library without using projects, contrary to the C1 importer which creates projects and an album with all images inside.
I intend to use this catalog as an archive, occasionally editing an old image.
I understand that projects allows for the use of multiple albums, even smart albums, but actually, I see no real use that for, in a archive perspective. Everything seems better accessed through filters. Most of my smart albums in Aperture were global, anyway. And my projects are usually not so big, 50 to 100 pics usually.
And anyway I can always set up a project later, instead of a particular album, if needed.
So I wonder if I should really go the route C1 is recommending, creating a C1 project for each Aperture Project, with an album inside, or just an album.
Am I missing something ?

Hi, I'm just migrating from Aperture and Lightroom. So far I haven’t really figured out what is the best way to assess organise my archive. This function by design, not to look inside a group but in a project is a little bit confusing. I would prefer if you can just turn it on or off if you see all content in folders aka groups and projects. I keep you updated if I found a good way.

For archival purposes you could easily choose not to have projects. However, I would choose to have projects.
The key function of a Capture One Project is that it sets and controls the scope for the browser and for smart albums.
Once you have selected a project, your browser only shows images inside the project. You may have several abums inside a project, if the project is selected, the browser shows the images in all of these albums. If these albums were at top level, you could not do that; you would either have all the images in the catalog, or all the images in one album.
Smart albums created inside a project only search images inside the project.

My question is not relevant anymore, as the software has adopted C1 mode, creating project, then albums
