Credit Where Credit's Due
For the first time in years with the latest update, Capture One is now working the way it should, “fast” on all of my 3 Mac’s (intel).

I do like C1 and version 14.2, but it is in ways a matter of the cup being half full. Engineers are more inclined to say the cup is too big, which is a fancy way of saying design created expectations that exceed available resources.
I do agree in many ways regarding the speed: 28 sec to open my 60,000 plus image catalog and display images, <5 sec to view ALL Images, 20 sec to backup catalog, and much faster downloading images. These were all much slower in previous versions. Granted, I am running C1 on a robust computer (iMac Pro with a 3 GHz10 for Intel processor with 64 GB DDR4 RAM and Radeon Pro Vega 54 16 GB graphics card), but that was true for previous slower versions C1 14 I ran.
However, here is where the cup half full/too large analogy kicks in. The delay in the slider adjustments since C1 implemented Metal for M2 Macs at full screen with 45 MPx images is more than annoying. This bug seems to be related to something gone haywire with OpenCL, which now appears not to work at all. While previous hardware acceleration it was never impressive, at least a full screen image changed with slider adjustments as you moved the slider. This bug needs to be tracked down and squashed in the next minor update. It also would be great if Metal on Intel Macs could be implemented, too.

Same, the delay/lag in any sort of adjustment of sliders (including undo/redo of those adjustments) is untenable and borderline unusable. Everyone exhibiting this needs to open a support ticket (I did) with C1P so they hear this.

That's right also for me on an Intel Mac this slider lag was not solved in 14.2.0. I opened a ticket when 21 was released, but they suggested I send them a video of what it looks like and that was too much hassle for me. Switched back to 20. 21 unusable with this lag. They say they're working now on Metal for Intel, hope it's coming soon.
