no response to magic brush
I paint a little bit & it creates a mask but there is no response to tolerance, refine, or opacity after the mask is created. I can set it before the mask & there is some response but how do I know what tolerance i need until after I see the mask it creates? Thanks.

The brush is designed to require a "trial and error" process.
You always have to brush again, if you want to try new parameters.
It is not a good design, in my view.
Parameters like "tolerance" should be adjustable interactively, in my view.
Not being able to negatively influence the mask (take away selected areas by designating them) is another oversight, in my view. Being forced to manually erase parts of the mask negates much of the benefit of an automatic mask creation.
FWIW, I almost always use the "Quick Selection" tool in Photoshop and pretty much never the "Magic Wand" (the equivalent to C1's "Magic Brush"). The latter just does not work that well in practice (outside demo images).0
