Yes, with new 14" 4k laptop I started to feel the same.

Surely at 200% you are exceeding the images limits for delivering detail so whatever you are checking is not detail?

If one also takes any current proof profile constraints into account the results are likely to be further compromised in some situations.

That said, the Keyboard shortcuts definitions already allow fast access to 200% zoom. Or more.

And fo course the Zoom tool allows zoom increments click by click or to zoom in or out.

@SFA At 200% you are observing detail at the same level we did before retina displays became the standard. 200% is a much more perceptually useful zoom level with high-DPI displays and high resolution images.

I don't see how proof profile affects this scenario.

And yes, keyboard shortcuts, and the Zoom tool allow one to reach 200% with different methods, but as I mentioned, I have been double-clicking with the Hand tool since before version 3 (I just checked my notes).

I would appreciate the option for 200% as a preference.

The proof profile may be set to different dimensions than the original file. 100% of a 2048 px wide output profiled image is likely to look rather different than a 100% rendition of an 8000 px original file.

The same goes for 200%, though the added data in the original file rendition may be more agreeable to the eye than the added data from 2048px file.

In my world retina displays are not the standard barely necessary.

However, if you are using a very high resolution, high level sensor it may indeed be possible to consider that detail at 200% to be useful in assessing detail.

Which key one hits to make that happen seems rather unimportant so long as a single (or double)  action can get one there.

If at all the zoom level upon double-clicking is changed away from 100%, the value should be configurable.

It should not be the case, as with the font size, that some assumption is made about monitor sizes and a "one-size-fits-all" approach is taken since, as a matter of fact, one size does not fit all.

In the absence of configurability, a 100% view (1:1 pixel mapping) is the only defensible choice.
