Capture One killed my hard drive!
I'm not sure what I thought when I bought C1. I think it was that the catalogues worked quite well. Not very well the way that Aperture's libraries work. Even on a really fast computer, adding images is painfully slow but then on a free amateur program……
What I did not expect was that you could only import an uncompressed (prove me wrong on that please) RGB Tiff file. That means a reasonable resolution 6 x 6 mono scan is around 450 mb and a 6 x 9 is not much short of 900 mb. Bizarre when the same thing as a DNG is 45mb or less.
These file sizes make work very very slow and will mean my HDD will get full very fast. This also means more backup discs which C1 doesn't play with very nicely at all.
So how about adding the ability to import greyscale as greyscale and better, save as DNG - which might make my computer last 20 times as long.
