Edit or Open with keeps asking to select default even though the list is populated

Running the latest version of C1 on a new computer, Windows 10. When I try to Open with or edit with and select either PS or Affinity, the Windows dialog box appears asking me which program do I want to open the file with, with the checkbox to select that program as the default program for this file type. In the case of .psd files, PS is already my default application and if I open a .psd file OUTSIDE of the C1 environment, it automatically opens with PS, but not the case when I'm inside of C1 and open the same file. This is true across multiple sessions, files, etc.. It seems that C1 is for some reason not recognizing either the selections in the Open with/Edit with menus. I've written to C1 support on this issue and supposedly they're still looking into it - anyone else seen this issue or understand how this all works? I'm thinking of uninstalling/reinstalling C1 but would like to save all my preferences, configurations, etc. but cannot find how I can do this and would rather not have to start over configuring the environment - any help in doing this would also be appreciated.
