Entering of metadata and face tagging
Dear Capture One Team,
Thanks for this really grand software. :)
Still, I would like to make a suggestion. Would there a possibility to design the entering of metadata (IPTC data) in way which would more user-friendly? I regularly have to enter large texts of descriptions and am kind of obstructed in properly doing so due to the "one-liner" input fields.
I use Capture One as archiving application for postcards and old photograhs which require a thourough description.
If face detection / tagging could be introduced as a feature sometime would also be grand, especially for old photographs with people on it. Surely contemprorary photographers would profit from this feature as well.
Thank you!
Take care.

Jan,
The IPTC data fields are in fact very large - only the initial data entry window is small.
Might it be an option to prep the text in a more accessible editor and then cut and paste it into the required field(s). Or perhaps if such tasks are already performed using other software tools it may be possible to synchronise the data fields with the other tool's information.
I'm not at all sure about the concept of face recognition outside of personal data and personal archives - unless one is a government agency that can be trusted to not misuse or lose the information.
Apart from that, I have some software on my NAS that claims to be able to assess files that one associates with it and will attempt face identification. I ran a quick test some time ago. I was not entirely sure it would be useful or reliable. I believe that software has recently been updated and combined with another of the photo managing application the NAS offers so it may be time to see if things have changed in any way.
Meanwhile I use Keywords for any shoots I undertake where the names for people related to specific shots are required.
