Upgrade to Capture 1 22 Not Accepting Upgrade Key
Just preorder Caputure 22 and tried to activate using the code I received in the email. When I enter the key it tell me the code in invaliad

The C122 code doesn't work for me, nor does the C121 code... The pre-update thing broke something. Advise any friends not to preupgrade yet, as doing so will bork their installations.

Must be tough to find quality programmers these days. My key is deemed invalid too.

Dunno. Worked fine for me.
Started Capture One (it was several hours after paying for the upgrade) and was told the old key was not valid. I deactivated Capture One. Upon re-launch I entered the new key, email address, and once I remembered what it was, my password. Done. Working as expected.
Are those who are having issues trying to use the new key within minutes of purchasing the upgrade and/or getting the key in email? I'm guessing it takes a while for the license server to learn about new keys.

I tried everything for more than an hour, then gave up. I tried again just now, with the new key, and Boom. It just worked. Patience, James!

Hopefully there is no issues with the new MacBook pro, that's what I'm trying to install it on.

This is counterintuitive and I believe a change within the last few years. You only have one key. It works for all versions and is no longer unique to a particular version. A new key replaces the old key for any version you have. This prevents you from running more than the 2 versions you are now allowed. Used to be three.
So, when you take advantage of a pre-release price, you get a shiny new key when you pay. Your old key will no longer work for the current version C1 21. You have to follow the process Marco described.
It would be nice if C1 just asked for the new key instead of making you deactivate C1 and reactivate it with the new key, More transparency about the process would be welcome and time saving.

I purchased the CaptureOne "Pro" 22 preorder and it locked me out of my fully paid for Capture One 21.
One day later Capture One 21 will not run because the license server says the Capture One 21 license cannot be verified, and then the only choice provided the user is to deactivate the old license. But Capture One is unable to complete the deactivation sequence ( I guess you cannot deactivate an invalid licence).
Because of this I cannot enter the new Capture One 22 licence.
It is long past time that Capture One should remove of "Pro" from the name of this software. This fiasco clearly demonstrates that this application is not Pro grade software.

I had no problem deactivating Capture One with my old License before re-activating with the new.
Go to captureone.com. Click on the head and shoulders icon. Click on Manage licenses. It will show what licenses you currently have registered and let you do offline activation, too. If it doesn't show your old license it's already been deactivated.

I just upgraded my license. Wasn't any other options, just the CO 22 upgrade. And the license doesn't work om CO 21. I can't wait to December to use CO. Whats is going on?!! Doesn't CO 22 license work on CO 21 until 22 is released?

Ditto. I've done it on two machines - albeit after buying the upgrade and going to bed - so hours later.

I had some considerable difficulty with deactivating my old licence, until I noticed that on the CO deactivation window there is an almost indiscernable check box to the left of the line "Yes I want to deactivate Capture One on this computer" Once I noticed that checkbox, and used it, things went smoothly.

Unfortunately, I faced the same problem. The activation of the current version is not possible. All possible options with deactivation and new activation have been undertaken. I had to restore the system from a backup and deny the connection to the activation servers. Moreover, I do not see my purchase on my order list, although the money has been successfully withdrawn. The support team is not responding.

My key is deemed invalid too when i like to upgrade to version 22! I hope there is a solution. It would be crazy to buy a whole new caputure one in less then a year.
i only need the upgrade so i can work with the latest sony RAW files. Rather i hope this update was within version 21. Unfortunately not.
Do I need to purchase a whole new version of Capture one ( 22) for it to work?
I bought Capture one midway in 2021 and my sony a7IV in january in 2022. But i can't work with the software. What to do now?

Just tried to activate the 22 new version.Did not work at all (the activation). Sorry to say that.
