Adapting grayscale images

    Hi Frank,

This is because C1 hasn't ingested your conversion yet. You could probably solve the issue by syncing your file/folder. The question is : how did you proceed to convert into RGB ? The best way is doing it through C1, i.e. using the command "edit with...". In that case, C1 will create a variant on which conversion should be done. If you just open your file in PS from C1 or from the folder, C1 won't realise you did the conversion.

Hi Frank and to add my recent experience with importing B&W scans:

First, I used an Epson v600 to scan (50+ year-old) 35mm B&W negatives and imported them directly into Capture One 22. By the way the Epson software allows scanning a 6 image film strip as individual files which takes more time but is worth the wait.

As Robert described the imported images were read only but became adjustable after opening a variant with any one of my "edit with" applications such as Nik Silver Efex 3, Topaz DeNoise, etc. Since I planned to use these apps anyhow the process does not create a problem for me.

Thanks Robert and Robert - I too am running into this issue, and the edit with option (which i'm very familiar with for roundtrip edits using PS for images from my digital camera) is a problematic solution for me. My scanned film images are already 118mb in size at import (using an epson v850 and scanning at max resolution, 6400). If i use 'edit with', i have to basically duplicate every roll of film i import, which is a storage nightmare.

Would much rather C1 add some capability to edit grayscale images with there being more and more film shooters. I can easily import and edit grayscale images in LR, which i also have, but I'd much rather continue to use C1..unfortunately the current constraints on grayscale leave me on the outside of C1 for now.
