Unfortunately an new feature introduced in 14.3 or 14.4 requires you to turn on proofing to view watermarks.  You can still add, edit, and move the watermark though it is not visible unless the Proofing icon is selected. With proofing turned off, add a watermark to a recipe and change the hand cursor to Move Watermark. Drag the cursor over the image and you will see the x:y coordinates of the watermark change though the watermark is not visible.  Also, the Proofing icon has to be added, it is not part of the default tool bar.  I wonder what idiot thought this was a good idea to allow changes to an image without displaying them in real time.  Proofing by design is to softproof an icc profile for an image on a properly calibrated monitor to see what a print might look like, not to view watermarks that should be visible if they have been added.  There are some posts where photogrphers have accidently sent images with watermarks to clients since the watermark  did not show up when the recipe was selected (without proofing turned on). I am still running C1 Version 14.2 on one computer which has the Process tool tab and properly executed watermarks. That was a much cleaner and more streamlined workflow then the Export Tool Tab.

    Thanks Gerald.

I didn't find a proofing icon, (I use the processing tab and not the processing window), but I did find "recipe proofing" in the View menu.

I guess I don't understand their logic or the distinction.  To me it's a proof if it's what I dictate in my personal proof recipe, i.e. a low res jpg, sRGB, with a watermark.

I'm thankful for your help now I can place the watermark without trial and error.

    Thanks so much!

The Recipe Proofing tool is an icon that resides on the Toolbar at the very top of the C1 window. Starting from the left you should have Import, Export Capture etc. as icons and if chosen, text shows as well.  Right Click on the toolbar at the top and you will see Icon and Text, Icon Only, Customize Toolbar.  If Icon and Text are selected (recommended), each icon in the toolbar will have text below the icon.  Right Click again and choose Customize Toolbar and a large widow of icons will open.  Look for Recipe Proofing (Eyeglasses icon) click and drag it to the toolbar.  Click Done lower right corner of tools window. Now you can turn on/off recipe proofing for a selected recipe. You can also click and hold the Recipe Proofing tool in the toolbar (note the small triangle under the tool icon), and select from a dropdown list of recipes.  If Proofing is turned on, the icon displays in orange.  Hope this helps.

Oh yes, I remember this icon on past versions of C1 as well.  I had it on in my tools for a bit then never used it or found a purpose for it.

    Thanks again
