Canon R5 creating multiple folders but C1 importing first folder only

Shooting with a (new to me) Canon R5. I was shooting a lifestyle job, high volume, onto a 256GB Express card. Back in the studio loaded the card into reader, ingested as per normal, looked at files and realized half the day was missing. Reloaded card and looked at it in Finder on the Mac and saw that the card folder structure had made two folders, splitting the files between them. Not a major issue, a bit annoying, but C1 reads subfolders, except it didn't, it auto selected the first of the two image folders on the card, ignoring the second folder, importing just the first folder of images. I don't know why it didn't select the higher level folder where it would have seen both the images folders, both subfolders, and imported them both, if that makes sense.

I know there are "issues" with Express cards and the Mac, wondering if it's thats the "problem", if it was just a fluke that C1 didn't go to the higher folder to see all the image folders this one time or if I now need to add an extra step in ensuring C1 is looking at the whole Express car when ingesting now.

How did you specify the source location? Did you specify the 100CANON folder on your card (in which case only images in that folder will be imported), or did you specify the card itself AND check the "Include Subfolders" box in the Importer (which should import all images on the card)?

Hi Abbott, strange as it may sound, I've never had to worry about selecting particular folders. C1 importer has always made the correct decision when a card is loaded and selected the higher level card folder and subfolders has always been checked as a default. I've created hundreds and hundreds of sessions with C1 with the the 5D series from II - IV, nearly all from cards as I don't shoot a lot of tethered work. Never had this happen before, which is why I'm wondering if it's an Express card issue, or maybe even an R5 or possibly a C1 issue with them. I'm inclined towards the card or the R5, which I feel has some poor engineering design issues.
