How can I speed up Styles preview?

Hovering over my different styles is sluggish when editing a picture. It somehow ruins the experience.

I'd very much like to be able to cycle my image through 5-6 styles very quickly to get a feeling of where I want to take the edit. Alas each style application take a second-ish or so, so I get a very out of sync experience.

I first thought it was my computer that was just slow. So I upgraded few months ago to latest tech (i7 12 gen, 3070, 32Gb RAM, m2 SSD)... didn't change a thing....

At times it seems snappier than normal. My impression is that it degrades the longer I have the app opened. 

So my question is: what leverage do I have to make this faster? 

Using sessions, if it is a factor.
