Help -- Scrambled sort order with new imports to album with manual sort order

If you import new images into an album which has been manually sorted, the new images are appended at the end of the thumbnails in random order. This makes importing into manually sorted albums quite frustrating.

For example, when I imported five new images into a manually sorted album, they were placed at the end of the thumbnails in that album in this order: XXX58, XXX55, XXX56, XXX54, XXX57. This is especially problematic when importing a larger number of images. 

If you import into the catalog, not a specific album, the thumbnails in that import are in name order, but when you copy them into a manually sorted album, the order is scrambled in the same way as above.

This is an old problem which was corrected in version 21 and 22, but has reappeared in version 23. It is unwelcome and needs to be fixed. Are other folks seeing this? I will report it to C1.

  Additional Info:

  1. After experimenting with a larger import, I found that when imported into a manually sorted album, although the new image thumbnails are appended in scrambled order at the end of the thumbnails (in the browser), when images are moved from the most recent import folder to a manually sorted album, they are not only scrambled, but the also appear in various locations when copied to a manually sorted album. 

  2. Repeating these actions with a new test catalog produces the same results.

  3. If you change the sort order in an album that was created in Name order to Manual order, the order of the thumbnails will be shuffled in a random fashion. This also happened in the previous version of C1 that had the problems described above.

  The problems with manual sort order described above and the broken slide show were reported to C1, but while awaiting a response and a fix so that it will function as in C1 21 and 22, I have gone back to version 15.4.1.7, which does not have these problems. 

  On my iMac Pro (late 2017), the last version of C1 22 is stable, fast and without bugs. Versions 20 though 23 use the same Capture One 20/21 Engine, so RAW file processing should be the same.

  One bug that is still in C1 22 is the shuffling of images when selecting Manual sort if the sort order was never manually sorted. It is a trivial problem that can be avoided by moving the location of at least one thumbnail to make the sort order Manual.
