MOVE PICTURES FROM ONE CATALOG TO ANOTHER
Want to move pictures, with all his information, from one existing catalog to another existing catalog. How can I do? I dont find the way
-
There is no one-step procedure, but you can...
- Open the catalog you want to move images from (Let's call it the Source Catalog)
- add the pictures you want to move to an album
- select the album
- right click the album and choose Export Collection as Catalog. (Let's call it the Move Catalog)
This will give you a catalog (the Move Catalog) with just those images in it.
Then...- Open the Catalog you want the images to move to (Let's call it the Target Catalog)
- In the Target Catalog go to File>Import Catalog>Capture One catalog... and choose the Move Catalog.
This will add the images to the Target Catalog.
What you do about deleting them from their old places depends on whether they were referenced images (stored somewhere in your file system) or managed images (stored inside the catalog). Don't think of deleting anything before you are sure they have ended up where you wanted them and that you have made a backup.

Just a question since I am pretty ignorant with respect to catalogs: It is possible to open two (or more) catalogs in C1, can images with their edits be dragged (moved or copied) between open catalogs?

It is possible to have more than one catalog open at once, but it is not possible to just drag images from one to the other.

I remember it discussed in the then phase one forum back in the v7 or v8 days. I wonder if it was submitted as a request or not. Perhaps it's time.

The difficulty, I suppose, is the way that edit information is stored in catalogs.
In sessions, you can certainly just drag and drop them. No need to even have both sessions open at once. Using the Library tool, just drag images from (say) the Selects folder of one session, to the Selects folder of the other.

Ian's method will work. Alternatively:
1. Select the images you want.
2. Export them (with adjustments) and designate a target folder. This will result in a folder containing all originals plus a subfolder labeled "Capture One" that contains your adjustments.
3. Open the catalog you want the images to go into, and import the folder from step 2. This will import the images + adjustments. The images will be in the import destination you choose (store in catalog, move to a new folder, or leave where they are).
4. After verifying that everything worked as expected, you can delete the images from your original catalog and (again depending on the destination you chose) the export folder.
While you can't drag images from one catalog to another, if you have 2 catalogs open you can copy adjustments from an image in one catalog and paste them into image(s) in the second catalog. I've done this many times.

Hi. I am curious, has this problem been solved? Is it now possible to drag a photo from one catalog to another? And should it not be possilble to drag other photos files directly from a Mac. In apple photo all this is possible. But maybe it is hard in CO?

To move images from one catalog to another, you still have to do it the way that was described in this thread.
However, you can drag images from one session to another or from other locations on a Mac (or PC) into session folders. One of the differences between working in catalogs and working in sessions.
